I’m excited to share some updates regarding our ongoing efforts to enhance the multiplayer experience on Xenia-Netplay, particularly for the original Saints Row. While we’ve made significant progress, there are still some hurdles to overcome before we can fully realize our vision.
Current Status:
As of the latest update, players are now able to detect sessions, marking a significant milestone in our development journey. However, our focus has now shifted to ensuring that all necessary properties for the multiplayer session are correctly passed—a task that we’re actively working on resolving.
Challenges Ahead:
While detecting sessions is a positive step forward, joining lobbies presents a new set of challenges. We currently lack an invitation system for XUIDs, which means players cannot join each other’s lobbies seamlessly. Additionally, we anticipate potential cleanup errors, such as ensuring no duplicate XUIDs are being used. These issues are currently under investigation, and we’re committed to finding solutions to improve the overall multiplayer experience.
Exciting Developments:
Despite the challenges, there’s plenty to look forward to in the future of Xenia-Netplay. Our dedicated server, xenia.saintsrow.net, is operational 24/7, and we’re thrilled to announce that multiplayer for the first Gears of War is now playable.
But our ultimate goal remains the original Saints Row—we can’t wait to gather in lobbies, invite friends, and experience the thrill of 60FPS multiplayer together.
Future Plans:
In the coming weeks, we’ll continue to work tirelessly to address the remaining hurdles and bring you an unparalleled multiplayer experience for the original Saints Row. With over 51 meticulously crafted maps by CabooseSayzWTF, randomized map cycles, and more exciting features on the horizon, there’s plenty to be excited about.
